The story of Makin' Honey began in 15th century Germany. In the hills around Stuttgart, our ancestors took the first steps into a family-defining profession. They would eventually pay half their taxes in beeswax, earning them the appelation of Halbgewachs.

This legacy of beekeeping would following the Halbgewachs to the United States. Harold Halbgewachs got his first hive of bees in 1926 at the age of 10. From this humble beginning, Harold would build a 5,000 bee hive operation that stretched from South Texas to South Dakota. He imparted his love of bees to his four sons.
